Large-Volume 3D Printer
What is it?
The German RepRap x400 Pro V3 a 3D Printer that prints physical 3D objects by extruding layer upon layer of PLA
filament. This is an additive type of printing, so no cutting is involved.
How do you use it?
-
Prepare an object to print using one of the following methods:
-
Find, download, and save an already-made object at thingiverse.com, tinkercad.com, or just Google search. Make sure you're downloading .stl files.
-
Design your own object using 3D Design software such as Tinkercad, SketchUp for Schools (in the G Suite) or Fusion360 (make sure to save it with a .stl file extension).
-
-
Save your file to a flash drive, save it to your Google Drive, or email the file to yourself.
-
Visit Ms. Tisher in the media center to load your file into the Simplify3D software and prepare it for printing. Check the dimensions of your object before it prints. All prints must be paid for in advance and are non-refundable.
What is the largest object the RepRap can print?
-
15.3" W x 15.8" D x 13" H (390x400x330mm)
How much does it cost?
-
All prints are $0.10/gram of filament used. Ms. Tisher will give you a price quote before she prints your file, and jobs must be paid for before they are completed. There are no refunds for lost or damaged base materials used in the Fab Lab as failure and mistakes are part of the activity.
How long does it take?
-
Prints usually take several hours, depending on the sizes of the objects. Objects will be printed on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, objects that are school-related will be printed before objects that are not for school.
